Modern Warfare 2 Knife Throw
Heavy Rain Game Footage
Renowned games designer David Cage is directing Heavy Rain that's being developed by Quantic Dream studios. Having directed acclaimed titles Farenheit and Omrikon: The Nomad Soul previously, it's unsurprising that there's a high level of anticipation around Heavy Rain.
This dark thriller in a film noir style carries the tagline: "How far are you willing to go to save someone you love?" Players will control one of four playable characters that are all said to be on the hunt for The Origami Killer.
The game will adopt a unique control system that will involve players having to perform actions such as tilting their pad or pressing buttons as they appear on the screen. Failure to do so will lead to their character's reactions being performed incorrectly or their character saying something in the wrong way and take the story in a different direction.
If the events lead to your character dying, they will no longer be a part of the story. The game won't end, though, as players will take control of another character to continue the hunt. This is a fantastic prospect for replay value as there's the distinct possibility that the game will be different every time you play it.
Heavy Rain is set for release in the first quarter of 2010.

What do you think are the best guns and perks to use? I have to admit, I’m pretty addicted to MW2 at the moment, so i’ll let you in on my current set up.
I personally don't think there is a 'best' solution but I think these are some great combinations. Here is my choice for best perks and guns to use. Let us know yours by commenting below.
I have used this gun and perks to great success...I was on fire with this last week!!!
Gun: Silenced Famas
Perk 1: Scavenger with silencer
Perk 2: Cold Blooded
Perk 3: Steady Aim or Ninja
Cold blooded is cool because no perk can find you.
I have also used the M16 Rifle using the Bling Perk and Holographic sight and silencer. Then with the other two Perks I have Stopping Power and Steady Aim. I also carry a rocket launcher as my secondary weapon to take out choppas and UAVs.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Launch Trailer (Official HD)
Modern Warfare 2 looks set to be a Christmas Number 1 if the game is anything like this cool launch trailer
Leaked Modern Warware 2 Video Gameplay
I'm sure a comment from Infinity Ward will be immintent, but do you actually play as a civilian-blastin' terrorist for a segment of Modern Warfare 2? If so, one can only imagine the media shitstorm that is soon to follow. Very curious to see exactly how this scene plays out, if it's actually from the game and if it's what it seems to be.
Latest Update (29th October 2009)
Activision sent out their clean-up PR committees stat to clarify what this scene is all about. While the company confirms the existence of such a scene, they reassured that that whole scenario is actually skippable, if the player may deem it unsuitable for their personal preferences. But what is that doing in the game in the first place? Activision has got a lot of explaining to do, so we'll give them the rest of the floor to let them do just that:
The leaked footage was taken from a copy of game that was obtained illegally and is not representative of the overall gameplay experience in Modern Warfare 2.
Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 features a deep and gripping storyline in which players face off against a terrorist threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse. The game includes a plot involving a mission carried out by a Russian villain who wants to trigger a global war. In order to defeat him, the player infiltrates his inner circle. The scene is designed to evoke the atrocities of terrorism. At the beginning of the game, players encounter a mandatory "checkpoint" in which they are warned that an upcoming segment may contain disturbing elements and they can choose not to engage in the gameplay that involves this scene.
Consistent with its content, the game has been given an "M" for Mature by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board. The rating is prominently displayed on the front and back of the packaging, as well as in all advertising.

Officially announced in the December 2008 issue of Game Informer, the game is scheduled to be released in North America on October 13, 2009. A European release date was initially announced as October 23, 2009, however this statement was later retracted by Naughty Dog co-president, Christophe Balestra on Twitter.
Call of Duty 4 - Star Wars Style!

Fifa 2010 Demo - 10.09.09 on Playstation Network
VidZone - Free Music Videos on your PS3!
Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app on your PS3, you need to agree to the EULA and choose whether to receive email updates on the service. Then it sets itself up, installing various components and doing God knows what else for about five minutes before you can start watching your favourite music videos.

From the homepage, navigation is a little confusing. There’s a whole heap of predetermined playlists, like the Top 10, best rock, sexiest and “star cameo” playlists.
If you don’t actually want to listen to any of those, you need to press the circle button to enter the menu. There you’re given the option of searching for songs, artists or genres and creating or listening to playlists.
The search feature is probably the first area that VidZone struggles and one where improvements I'm sure will be made. Typing in the name of your desired artist is annoyingly slow. Rather than using the PS3’s usual on screen keyboard, you have to manually scroll through each letter, and it’s not responsive at all. If you’re trying to type in a name with a lot of letters around the middle of the alphabet, like Foo Fighters for example, you’ll need a couple of minutes!

The cool thing is the sheer number of songs and artists is impressive. It’s not just restricted to the latest music either – there are tracks from the likes of James Brown as well. And John Mayer is there too.
The videos themselves look and sound very good, except for one little problem – they’re all restricted to 4:3 ratio, meaning your big ass 16:9 TV has two black bars down the sides. Even clips that are 16:9 in nature, like The Pretender by the Foo Fighters is restricted to 4:3, which means you have black bars all around the clip. Hopefully this is something Sony fixes post-haste, because not being able to view clips full screen is a huge disappointment.
As we saw from the screenshots yesterday, the ads are unobtrusive and varied, although at the moment a lot of the ads look to be directly imported from the UK, considering the pound signs everywhere. I’m sure that’s just a launch phase thing though – as the service kicks off we’ll probably see a lot more localised ads.
On the whole, VidZone is pretty impressive. It’s not something you’ll use all the time, but if you’re having a party or just want to sit around watching sexy videoclips, it’s a cool solution.
Sony to sell movies, TV shows via PS3

Movie download stores have long been hampered by the complexity in moving downloaded content from the PC to the TV, but this niggle is finally evaporating thanks to new services that deliver video directly to the TV via games consoles and set-top boxes such as TiVo and Apple TV.
The final hurdle - Australia's comparatively slow broadband speeds and strict download quotas - is also set to disappear, with the upcoming National Broadband Network promising speeds of at least 100Mbps to 90 per cent of the population.
Sony has sold movies and TV shows through the PS3 in the US since June last year, and Australian Sony Computer Entertainment head Michael Ephraim said work was progressing on a launch in this country. "We're looking at launching some time towards the end of this year or into 2010," he said in a phone interview. Jack Ford, managing director of Sony Pictures Television, gave a similar projection at a Sony event in Sydney last week. I'd also expect that, within the next 12-18 months, high definition film and television content will be available through the PlayStation Network."
As a starting point, Sony announced today it would soon introduce VidZone, allowing PS3 users to watch music videos for free through the console.
Last week, Blockbuster and TiVo opened their joint movie and TV download service, allowing users of the TiVo set-top box to rent more than 100 movies and several TV shows directly from the device.
Internode customers can use the BlockBuster/TiVo service without eating into their download quotas.
Telstra BigPond, which sells movies, music and other content through its various websites, is rumoured to be heading down a similar path later this year by selling a set-top box similar to the TiVo that can provide unmetered access to BigPond's online services.
Yesterday, Apple Australia announced it was now selling HBO shows, including The Sopranos and Sex And The City, through iTunes.
Other studios including Disney, 20th Century Fox, NBC, Sony and MTV already offered episodes through the service, while a broad selection of movies can also be rented or bought.
Those with an Apple TV device can watch content bought from iTunes directly on their TV sets.
Soon, intermediary devices such as the PS3, TiVo and Apple TV will not even be required, as TV makers are now building internet connectivity directly into their new models.
So far in Australia the internet-enabled TVs are offering little more than YouTube clips but this is set to change shortly, with Americans already enjoying movie downloads via Netflix.
While Australia has lagged behind, those in the US have long been able to buy scores of movies and TV shows over the internet using a range of devices.
In fact, much of the latest content is offered for free - with advertising - through the Hulu website, which is not accessible to Australians.
Locally, TV networks have begun offering some of their biggest shows such as Underbelly as free advertising-supported downloads, but the process is slow, ad hoc and nowhere near as smooth as Hulu, which operates like YouTube.
The only exception is the ABC, which streams its shows for free through its iView player. Unlike the commercial networks, the ABC does not have to worry about online viewing eating into broadcast ad revenues.
More and more Australians, who are fed up with waiting for local networks to air US shows and not being able to watch episodes on their own schedules, are turning to BitTorrent sites to access the content illegally.
Video Demo of PS3 Motion Controller - with Playstation Eye
Sony has released a few more PS3 Motion Controller details to developers and confirmed that staging its motion sensing assault “across all genres” with support from first-party and third-party content providers. It also revealed that the PS3 Motion Controller will have force feedback, something that rival Project Natal can’t achieve for obvious reasons.
The final design and even the name of the PS3 Motion Controller are both still up in the air. The quirky looking device shown off on stage at E3 was by no means the finished article.
Sony also stated that you’ll be able to play with up to four of them at the same time. Four is not an unusual number for a console, but it is interesting given that part of the E3 demo showed a pair of Motion Controllers being used together. Therefore it seems that the more complex games could be limited to two players only.
However, Sony also reveals that it’s “looking into the possibility” of combining the Motion Controller with the standard Sixaxis / DualShock 3 controllers to be used in tandem. The example given was of using the Motion Controller as a sword while the standard controller acted as a shield.
Still no word on prices or a fixed release date yet.

COD5 Perks

Perk 1 - Bandolier Best?
Bandolier
This is a must with any fully automatic weapon. An exception to this rule is the M1A1 carbine, simply because the gun has low recoil and a high magazine capacity which would make you want to squeeze off more rounds than you should.
Why the bandolier? Let’s see, an additional 100 or so rounds of ammo. In hard core mode, 1-2 rounds can kill a person so you’ll have the potential to kill 100 people. You can’t come close to that with any other perk. Nothing is worse than running out of ammo on your 6th kill only to be killed because you ran out of ammo, which is why you would want the bandolier. Also, what is the main cause of death in Call of Duty? Guns and bullets!
Satchel Charges
These rule for tank killing. Aim for the rear armor. I find the satchel charges to be much more effective and stronger than rockets. The only downside is that you must be within throwing distance of the tank. However, firing a rocket gives away your position so it evens out. Satchel Charges can also be good for clearing out rooms or what not, but use them sparingly since you’ll probably get shot while trying to plant the charge.
Bouncing Betty
ONLY if you’re sniping. ONLY! I see no other reason to use Bouncing Betties with any other class because you are supposed to be on the move. They are very time consuming to set up - if you are palying Headquarters your are most likely to get shot whilst placing a bouncing betty. A sniper usually camps, gets a few kills, then moves - all by himself. Bouncing Betties are all a sniper can rely on for detection and support.
Perk 2 - Use Stopping Power?

I’ve though long and hard about this and I’ve come to the conclusion that Stopping Power should be the only Perk used in the Perk 2 slot for a variety of reasons.
1. Weapon damage is increased. This is especially important when playing in hard core mode. Stopping Power will shave off 1-2 rounds needed to kill a person depending on the gun. Those 1-2 rounds make a huge difference. Even with bolt action rifles, I still use Stopping Power because it almost guarantees a one hit kill. Without Stopping Power, it may take two shots to bring someone down with a bolt action rifle, which leaves you open to be shot while cycling the next round. Rifles like the M1A1 and M1 take 1-2 shots to kill a person with stopping power, depending on the distance and impact point. They are usually one hit kills, but occasionally you’ll have to hit twice. If you didn’t have Stopping Power, you’ll find yourself needing two hits to kill more often than one hit to kill. In the middle of a fast paced firefight, where both of you are getting hit by each other, a one hit difference does make a difference.
2. Duration of the perk; Stopping Power is active the entire game and is utilized in every round you fire. Perks like “Gas Mask” are only activated when there is Tabun gas in the vicinity. Sleight of hand is only active when you reload. Camouflage is only active when there’s an enemy recon plane. So on and so forth with the rest of the perks in Perk 2. Simple mathematics and logic should tell you that you are firing your weapon more than any other action in the game (besides movement).
3. Stopping power cancels out Juggernaut. Since we’re talking hard core mode, Juggernaut is useless and adds little health. It still takes almost equal amounts of hits to bring someone down with Juggernaut. There have been plenty of times where I’ve killed someone using Juggernaut with 1-2 hits from the M1A1. “The best defense is a good offense.” Stronger bullets or stronger armor? Since you’re supposed to be on the offense, stronger bullets of course. Stronger bullets = faster killing = more killing = more points on the board.
Perk 3 - Stead Aim Best?
Deep Impact
Makes most types of cover non-existent. Use this perk on any non-submachine gun. SMG rounds do not penetrate as well as rifle rounds and they also don’t deal as much damage when passing through a wall, so don’t waste this perk on SMGs. Instead, use Deep Impact with rifles and machine guns. Deep Impact allows the bullet to deal more damage (than it would without Deep Impact) after it has passed through a wall. Once you start to get more experienced, you’ll have no problem “walling” or “ghosting” people (shooting through walls).
Plus, in Call of Duty 5, if you leave your crosshairs over the enemy for a split second, their name will appear in red over their head. Even if they move behind cover, you will still see their name through the wall, which tells you exactly where to shoot. You can also make accurate predictions of enemy positions using a recon plane. If you see that someone is in a building, fire off a few rounds into their suspected hiding place. Then, if you see the “x” hit mark, keep firing until they die. Deep Impact comes in handy way more than you’d think!
Steady Aim
Makes hip firing more accurate. Personally, I only use this perk with submachine guns and submachine guns only get used in small maps. Small maps means close vicinities, which is where Steady Aim soars. You practically never have to aim at anybody within ~20ft. Steady Aim gives running and gunning its name. Not having to bring the weapon up to your shoulder and aim shaves off at least 1/2 second, an eternity in FPS games. This gives you the upper hand into getting the first shot off, which greatly raises your probabilities of scoring the first hit. Scoring the first hit means they either die or get hit and become slightly disoriented, which still gives you the upper hand. Pair this with a PPSh and you have a mean combo.
Perk 3 Honorable Mentions

Suffers the same flaw as many of the other perks which were not mentioned; the duration of the perk is too short. This perk is only active when you’re supposed to be dead. Isn’t the point of the game NOT to die and get as many kills as possible? In Call of Duty 5, they also added the ability to revive teammates. But seriously, how often to you see a downed teammate?
Most experienced players do not fall for Second Chance and will release a few extra shots after you’ve “died” just to make sure. Plus it is extremely easy to tell if someone has Second Chance equipped because they tend to soak up more rounds than normal before they drop down to the ground with their pistol.
Iron Lungs
This perk was more important in Call of Duty 4, but I believe that it holds little value in World at War. This is because Call of Duty 5 introduced sniper rifles with iron sights. Iron sights are far superior than scopes and have benefits such as no need to steady rifle, which leads to different advantages like faster follow up shots.
Although scoped rifles do more damage than their iron sight counterparts, it still only takes one shot from an iron sight bolt action rifle with Stopping Power to kill a person in hard core mode. Why go through the trouble of using a scope and wasting a perk when iron sights will do just fine? Although iron sights are difficult to use, they are every bit as accurate as scopes. The only exception I would make to this rule is when playing on Seelow since the map is huge and picking out enemies can be difficult. But even still, with good eyes, iron sights are manageable.
Perk 4 - Tanks

Faster turret reloads means more tank shells down range. More tank shells means a higher probability of killing an enemy. Killing enemies wins the game. The coaxial machine gun is OK at best because the MG is in a fixed, forward firing position making it awkward to use at times.
We are looking for perks to directly aid us in killing the enemy; moving faster (Leadfoot) or turning the turret faster (Greased Bearings) does not accomplish this. Water Cooler is useless because who is stupid enough to get on a tank machine gun? Anybody manning the machine gun on a tank is an easy, instant target with little mobility.
Well, that about sums it up. If any body has any questions, comments, or rebuttals, I’d be happy to hear and address them. Stay tuned for more Call of Duty 5 strategy posts in the future!
